Internet Facility Soon Inside Indian Trains

Indian train will soon provide internet facility inside trains for the passengers. Passengers will be able to surf internet on their devices without any data cards as per new approval by Indian Research Organization (ISRO).

Indian space agency has allowed the Indian Railway to use it's frequency from KU band for using satellite for surfing internet inside trains.
This proposal of providing internet service inside Indian trains through satellite was brought up by Indian Railway 2 years ago and was waiting for the ISRO clearance.Under the proposal, Internet facility will be provided in Howrah Rajdhani coaches on a pilot basis by uplinking them with satellite.

The Railways plans not to charge passengers to avail the Internet facility as it is a pilot project, for which an amount of Rs 6.30 crore has been sanctioned by the Railways.

As part of the project, the locomotives of the train and coaches will be installed with custom-made antenna to connect them to Internet through Wi-Fi.

Passengers will have to dial a number provided by the TTE to get a password in their mobile phones in order to avail the Internet service inside the train.
