World’s Lightest Material (Aerographite) Created by Scientist

Scientists have created the world’s lightest material. The new carbon nanomaterial, called Aerographite, weighs 0.2 milligrams per cubic centimeter. That’s less than a quarter the weight of the last record-holder, a nickel-phosphorous microlattice created by American researchers last year. And it’s six times lighter than air.                                    Nanotechnology researchers have been working with carbon nanotubes for years (as the name suggests, these are very, very small tubes made of carbon atoms), building everything from superlight bicycles to medical implants. What the German team (from the University of Hamburg and the University of Kiel) figured out was how to build a network of branching nanotubules, thereby making the material stronger and a better conductor of electricity—two qualities that make it much more widely useful in electronics. The unprecedented lightness was an unexpected bonus. Aerographite was created by a clever molecular-scale vers

New Law to Address the Heinous Crimes of Sexual Abuse of Children

Image
India is home to the largest child population in the world, with almost 42 per cent of the total population under eighteen years of age. Needless to say, the health and security of the country’s children is integral to any vision for its progress and development. One of the issues marring this vision for the country’s future generations is the evil of child sexual abuse. Statistics released by the National Crime Records Bureau reveal that there has been a steady increase in sexual crimes against children. According to a study conducted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in 2007, over half of the children surveyed reported having faced some form of sexual abuse, with their suffering exacerbated by the lack of specific legislation to provide remedies for these crimes. While rape is considered a serious offence under the Indian Penal Code, the law was deficient in recognising and punishing other sexual offences, such as sexual harassment, stalking, and child

Swapna Paul a Delhi Based Girl Getting Threatening SMS from Own Mobile Number

If you have seen the movie "Karthik Calling Karthik"  then you must have remember that in the movie that Karthik get call from Karthik (himself), the same thing now happening in the real life, the only difference here is that victim is getting sms instead of call from her own mobile number.  Swapna has not seen her 'clone' but for the last two years her ' double' has been sending threatening messages to her father on his cellphone. In a real adaptation of Karthik Calling Karthik , the messages are being sent from Swapna's mobile number, freaking out both father and daughter. Clearly, she didn't send the messages. Who- sent- it? The Delhi Police's cyber cell is working to solve the case, surely one of the toughest assignments they have handled. No breakthrough has been made but the police have given a clean chit to Indian scientists and suspect that some mischief- seekers have cloned Swapna's mobile phone and shooting the messag

Vijender Singh Out of London Olympic Medal Race

London, Aug 6 (IANS) India 's ace boxer Vijender Singh was knocked out of the 2012 London Games after he went down 13-17 to Uzbek Abbos Atoev in the quarterfinal of the men's 75kg at the ExCel Arena here late Monday night. Vijender , a Beijing Games bronze medallist, was on the verge of creating history by becoming the only individual Indian athlete to win two Olympic medals. A place in the semi-final would have assured him of at least a bronze like it did four years ago in Beijing. But, in London, the script unfolded in a different way. Vijender was not aggressive nor tactical as he had been in the last two matches. Having being beaten by Vijender 7-0 in the final of the 2010 Asian Games, the Uzbek was determined to take revenge this time. The two boxers took time to measure up to each other in the first round that finished at 3-3. The crowd was completely behind the Indian as chants of "jitega jitega India jitega" reverberated at the ExCel Arena.
